Eastern Service Workers Association (ESWA) is an all-volunteer, membership association built by and for service workers and others unrecognized by national labor laws who work but don’t receive a living wage. Sadly, 93% of children in the city of Rochester live in families whose income falls below the poverty line. Volunteer time and donations of clothing and school supplies through ESWA make it possible for low-income parents to send their children to school with the things they need without having to choose between that and household essentials like groceries, rent, and utilities.
Irondequoit Presbyterian Church supports the annual “ESWA Back to School Drive” each summer by collecting and donating school supplies to help Rochester families in need. Donations can be dropped off at the church office during normal office hours, or at worship on Sundays.
